Transport Tycoon is an economic strategy in real time, in which the player acts as the manager of the transport company and tries to get the maximum profit by transporting passengers and various cargoes on roads, railways, monorail roads, and also by water and air transport.

The map on which the game is played contains many objects - cities, businesses, banks, offshore oil platforms. Each such object "produces" and "consumes" a load of a certain type. The player should build a station of one or another type of transport and transport the goods from the producer to the consumer.

The objects give the produced cargo to a station located near, depending on its productivity (or city size) and station rating. The vehicle loads a cargo at the station, which it can take away, and unloads the entire cargo at the first station located near the object that consumes this load. When unloading, the transportation services are paid, in proportion to the distance between the stations, the amount of cargo and the speed of delivery.
