R-TYPE II

R-TYPE II is the kind of game that remains engaging even after twenty years. The developers could have easily updated it with more modern graphics and varied gameplay, but they chose to keep the game exactly as it was created by Irem in 1989. They did add a few nice touches to make the gameplay more convenient, such as a difficulty selection, two types of customizable controls, compatibility with wireless MoGa controllers, NVIDIA SHIELD, Xperia Play, support for multiple languages, and the ability to share achievements with friends.

The game's story is simple: you are a spaceship pilot tasked with destroying hordes of enemy units on foreign territory. This description of the player's actions in R-Type II is essentially complete, as you will be shooting at moving and stationary targets, collecting power-ups and new weapons, fighting bosses, and much more. Fans of 16-bit consoles will appreciate the graphics and soundtrack that are a true throwback to 1989.
